Welcome to Kindergarten
Southeastern Christian Academy provides a “Christian home away from home” for our kindergarten students. Our caring teachers seek to develop the whole child by meeting their physical, mental, spiritual, and social needs throughout the day.
Our school day begins at 8:10 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m., with after care provided for those children who need such services. Encouraging child progress and ensuring discipline are handled with kindness and
understanding in order to provide a learning community of educational excellence in our Christ-centered environment. Teachers and administration maintain communication with our parents concerning students’
progress and discipline. We expect that parents and students will give full
cooperation towards our school in order to provide effective teaching.
Reading in Kindergarten
Kindergarten students learn to read in our
enjoyable program. Beginning with letters and sounds, they progress to reading words, sentences, and stories in their own reading books.
The children take home each book they finish to enjoy it over and over.
Arithmetic is learned by using the A-Beka math program and hands-on-materials. Our students learn number recognition, number value, counting, sorting and classifying, spatial relationship, time, money, fractions, the
calendar, addition and subtraction.
A good start for your child
American heritage and patriotism are emphasized in our social studies curriculum. Also, students learn about the solar system and prehistoric eras during science time. Bible truths are taught daily. Music and art activities are offered on a regular basis for enrichment.
Sharing our philosophy
Kindergarten is a time for building a strong academic foundation for your child’s future success in life. In addition, kindergarten is a time for students to learn self-discipline, respect for authority and build Godly character.
